Maya mobile! Maya Pyramid now available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

11 is the new magic number as you’ll find out if you play Maya Pyramid. Maya Pyramid is the second game, after Jungle Jewels, which GameDuell has released for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Similar to the online version on www.gameduell.com, the aim of the game is to combine at least two cards in order to reach a sum of 11. In completing this, the cards disappear from the screen, clearing the way to the bonus level. The best thing is: in the mobile version, you select the cards intuitively with your fingers so that playing the game really couldn’t get any easier.

Further features involved in the app:

  • Unlimited fun: There are over 70 individual level designs with increasing difficulty, a must for all card-game fans.
  • 2 game modes: Maya Pyramid offers you the classic mode, similar to our online version, where the defining factor is the high score. In our “Adventure” mode, however, the aim is to unlock exciting new levels
  • For each completed level in Adventure mode, you receive one of twelve decorative pyramid blocks so that you can design your very own pyramid!
  • In both the classic and adventure modes we offer high score lists so that you can compare your score not only with your friends but also with the rest of the world.
  • All Maya Pyramid beginners can learn how to master the tricky path through the game in an easy-to-understand interactive tutorial.

This is how the game looks like (played on an iPad):

You can download the game directly here!

GameDuell donates more than $12K to AMANDLA Edufootball

Teaming up for a brighter future: Working together, participants in GameDuell’s Safari Bonus played hard and collected an impressive 10,127 EUR (that’s nearly $13,000!). The proceeds are being donated to AMANDLA Edufootball, a child-care organization in South Africa that is funded exclusively by donations like this one.

“Give Strength to Youth – Educate through Sport” is AMANDLA’s motto. Although South Africa is a country teeming with soccer enthusiasts, many children still don’t have the opportunity to participate in sports. For those who live in poverty-stricken areas or are separated from their families in orphanages, surrounded by drugs and violence, the future often seems bleak.

AMANDLA supports children like these with their Soccer Leagues Program. In this program, soccer is used to teach values such as equality, tolerance, fair play and teamwork. In doing so, children gain confidence and learn to take responsibility for themselves and others. In addition, AMANDLA offers programs that prevent violence and help teach fundamental knowledge like reading and writing. With these skills, the children are capable of attending school and later have better chances at getting jobs.

AMANDLA is backed by Willi Lemke, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Sport for Development and Peace. You can find more about AMANDLA’s commitment at the organization’s website:

Fluffy – Our Brand New Game Isn’t Just for the Birds!

No, we haven’t gone cuckoo. But you might think so once you feast your eyes on our new game, Fluffy! After several extensive test-flights, we’re ready to let our colorful fluff balls take to the skies. So without further ado, we are proud to present GameDuell’s newest creation.

In Fluffy, you shift and slide rows and columns to form groups of three or more like-colored birdies, and the more you connect the merrier! The freed birdies will fly away and you’ll receive points. To spice it up, you’ll be fulfilling different missions that will earn you eggs. Think you can connect three eggs? If you can, baby birdies will hatch and you’ll proceed to the next level.

Fluffy is cute, cuddly and easy to play. We’re sure you’ll especially love creating chain reactions. They’re created when groups of birdies are cleared and the ones above them fall to the free space, creating more groups. If you want to learn how to maximize your score, have a look at the rules.

GameDuell Donates 5,000 EUR to Charity Project Villa suedSee

Here at GameDuell we’re always on the lookout for ways to support organizations that work to change the world for the better, and this year is no different. One amazing charity that has really grabbed our attention is the youth project Villa südSee. Nestled in a peaceful country village, the villa is home to eight children and teenagers between the ages of 6 and 18.

All of the children at the villa come from problem families where alcohol, drugs and criminal behavior were commonplace. Many of the children were neglected and even abused. For them, Villa südSee is the first real home they have ever known. Here they are cared for and given a sense of safety, security and acceptance. With these needs met, the children can grow more confident and find a new lease on life.

On GameDuell’s behalf, Heiner Lauterbach and his wife Viktoria presented the educators at Villa südSee with a check for 5,000 EUR. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Heiner and Viktoria for their support! We wish all the children in the villa a great summer and a wonderful childhood.

Playing Cupid: A GameDuell Interview with Members Dirk & Christine

We all know that GameDuell is the number one meeting spot for great games and private messages. But did you know that sometimes beautiful relationships bloom out of these chance meetings? Christine and Dirk from Duisburg, Germany know it now. We recently sat down with both of them so they could share their story.

Christine und Dirk
The two of you met on the GameDuell website. Tell us, how exactly did that come about?

Christine: On December 29th, 2007 at sometime around 9:30 p.m., we happened to meet over a game of Backgammon (to this day we still “fight” about who won; my husband claims he was the winner). During the game we used the little speech bubbles to exchange some light-hearted banter – it was really a refreshing change. On that same evening we exchanged e-mail addresses.

Dirk: We swapped pictures on January 1st, 2008. From then on I just couldn’t resist her. At the time, we lived more than 100 miles away from each other, so we didn’t get a chance to meet in person until February 19th, 2008.

Christine: By then, we’d already fallen in love over the Internet and on the phone and were sure that we wanted to live together. In March, I spent my first weekend with him and on June 1st, 2008 I moved to Duisburg. In Germany, there’s an old love song called “And Lightning Struck”. Thanks to GameDuell, it struck us with love!! Thank you GameDuell, for the best thing that’s ever happened to me (laughs)!!!

How long have you two been playing at GameDuell?

Christine: My husband’s been playing since the beginning of 2007. I started around July of 2007.

When did you decide to get married?

Christine: It sounds crazy, but about three days after we started playing against each other, my husband wrote in the speech bubble “You’re my wife, you just don’t know it yet.”

Dirk: Both of us are over the hill. We’re not teenagers in love, but we noticed within the first few days that something like destiny brought us together.

What are your favorite games at GameDuell?

Dirk: For the sake of romance it really should be Backgammon, but Bubble Popp, Maya Pyramid and Magnoid are my favorites. Christine plays Jungle Jewels most.

Stars-Spangled Banner and Many More – GameDuell is also Having Soccer Fever!

All of our offices have been decorated for weeks now. And everyone was really excited when the show finally started. Since our team is very international, we have quite a full arrange of colors on the walls and ceilings. The first flags were orange – even a tricot from Cameroon turned up. We all love soccer and our country colors, and this really shows these days!!!

In the last weeks we have set up a bunch of things in order to offer all GameDuell fans something special. For example, our game “SoccerMatch” is online – here you can swap soccer shoes, cups, whistles and, of course, soccer balls. The more combinations you get, the more goals you score to try to win the game. Really fun!!

Also, in line with this incredible worldwide soccer event, we created the Safari Bonus. By taking part in several GameDuell games you can climb up the bonus ladder. All you have to do then is answer the curious and fun questions that you find in your way, all of them dealing with our beloved soccer ball. And just by taking part you will win because for every correct answer you get, we donate 0,10 € to AMANDLA EduFootball e.V. You can find more information on this charity event here.

Now, all we can do is cross our fingers and root for our home team! Stars-Spangled banner, Black-Red-Gold, Orange, Red and Yellow, Blue-White-Red, Red-Blue…who will win?

GameDuell TECH Talk with Adam Bien

Every few months, GameDuell invites developers, admins and IT-related people to the GameDuell TECH Talk. Yesterday, Java expert Adam Bien was on the podium and evaluated some exciting insights on the everyday life in software development. He did not just focus on technical aspects but also on team and productivity issues – his lecture was pretty versatile and with a good sense of humor. The audience asked quite a number of questions and a fruitful discussion evolved.

Following Bien’s speech, everyone had a good time with beer, pizza, playing billard and networking. GameDuell has been organizing the TECH Talk event for a couple of years now. It takes place every few months in Berlin. On every occasion, an industry expert shares his knowledge and discusses current developments in IT.
